Charlotte J. Odman attended Augustana College from 1934 to 1938. After graduating, Odman worked for the Augustana Book Concern in Rock Island, Illinois, and later at the Board of Publication of the Lutheran Church of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Gustav Stolpe (1833-1901) was a well-known and successful Swedish musician and composer by the time Augustana College invited him to direct its music program in 1882.
